The Fruit Press arrives and is put through it's paces

Following the decision at the AGM in February the Association has purchased a Fruit Crusher and Press. This was suggested as many plot holders had wind-fall apples that were going to waste. On Sunday 11 September we conducted a trial of the equipment and this was most successful. From a bucket of mixed wind-fall apples 1 ½ litres of juice was extracted. The apples were first put through the crusher (the bigger ones being pre-sliced) and the crushed pulp was then pressed to produce the juice. By using the Filter Bags the juice was clear and all who tried it were impressed by the sweet taste.

The equipment is available for Plot Holders to use, and instructions for use will be provided.
